Plan B: Medical Medium Healing Protocol
Its been a while since I posted about my self-healing techniques and I wanted to update you on my new approach which I’m enthusiastically following.
It’s important because when I am fully healed and have marveled the medical establishment with my miraculous healing, you’ll need to know how I did it! 😉
Progress on the Paleo Autoimmune Diet
For the first 7 months of this illness, I was religiously applying my knowledge of naturopathy, supplementation and herbs and the Paleo Auto-immune Diet. But after a while I began getting a bit lazy with it. I had had many sessions of NAET – a technique which claims to clear intolerance’s to food and non-food items, and according to that I was free of most food intolerances. So I figured that I could now start reintroducing foods again. As I became more mobile and independent, traveling into London for hospital appointments, I began having the odd off-detox meal here and there, and soon got used to richer more exciting flavors. By August I think I had more or less abandoned paleo protocol and was eating normally. I just hadn’t seen enough improvement to continue with it. I was still fairly bloated and whilst I had good energy and concentration levels, my tinnitus and hearing was not improving.
So I delighted in the tastes of burgers, curries, chips and chocolate cake for a few months (not all the time!). But when I lost further hearing in October I started to re-question the impact of my eating habits on my health. Having studied Naturopathic Nutrition for two years I simply can’t be naive about the impact of food on health.
I was recommended a book by Anthony Williams called Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal. The book has impressed me so much that I’ve now abandoned all former approaches in favour of this advice.
Anthony William – Medical Medium
Anthony William has had extraordinary psychic abilities since he was a child which enable him to know what’s wrong with the people he meets and what they need to naturally heal. This was just the man I needed to tell me whats wrong with me since nobody on this planet seems to have the faintest idea what happened to me.
In his book he confirms what I’ve always said – that there is no such thing as an autoimmune condition. Naturopathy teaches that the body does its very best for us at all times, it doesn’t attack itself for no good reason. He goes on to explain that many of the chronic long-term illnesses that plague people these days (e.g MS, ME, thyroid issues, hormonal issues, rheumatoid arthritis etc) are caused by the Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). He says that the virus has around 60 different varieties and can cause a wide range of symptoms – inducing vertigo and tinnitus.
The 5 stages of EBV virus in the body
Anthony explains how that the EBV virus develops and attacks the body.
Stage 1 – EBV lays dormant and causes no symptoms. It replicates itself and waits patiently for a period of stress in which to attack. This could be weeks, months or years and can also be caused by hormonal changes such as puberty, menopause and childbirth.
Stage 2 – EBV activates and turns into the virus Mononucleosis, which can show up on blood tests. The immune system does all it can to attack the virus cells and symptoms differ between people. At worse it can cause fatigue, sore throat, fever, headaches and rashes for many months. EBV creates an environment attractive to bacteria such as Streptococcus which creates its own set of problems, for example sinus, nose, throat and bladder infections.
Stage 3 – EBV makes a home in the liver, spleen, thyroid and/or other organs and can no longer be found by blood test. The immune system assumes it’s won the battle and stops seeking it out. For some, EBV can create problems even whilst it is nesting, by inflaming and enlarging the organs. This is the cause of thyroid disease. The virus also produces a range of poisons and it is these toxins which actually cause Lupus.
Stage 4 – When some sort of emotional injury occurs, EBV will take advantage and leave the organ/thyroid and move to inflame the nervous system. This causes all sorts of symptoms which is why so many people are suffering from unexplained illnesses. EBV latches on to damaged nerves keeping them inflamed causing issues like migraines, insomnia, night sweats, back pain, muscle pain, numbness…and here is the important part…he lists Tinnitus, Menieres Disease, Vertigo as resulting from this stage of EBV.
The theories in Medical Medium make sense to me. Since my 20’s I suffered with strep throat/tonsillitis (Stage 2) and it still happens now if I am stressed and tired. Also about 4 years ago my thyroid enlarged and became nodulated which correlates with Stage 3 EBV. When I asked the specialists why this happened they said “these things just happen” …and then they surgically removed half of it! Finally I understand how the virus would have activated to Stage 4 in February, since I was having an emotionally difficult period in a difficult relationship. I was pushing myself too hard and was ignoring my own needs for rest and recoup. In my case, it is possible the virus simply must have attached itself to the hearing and vestibular nerves.
The Medical Medium Protocol
So how to beat it?
There are so many people wanting an appointment with Anthony William that he pulls names out of a hat randomly each month. Whilst I’m waiting for my name to be pulled, I am wholeheartedly going to put into practice as much of the advice in his book as I can.
The aim is to
- Destroy the EBV virus through antivirals and not feeding it the things it likes anymore
- Detoxify chemicals and heavy metals – these feed the virus and make
- Re-nourish the body to reverse any deficiencies caused by the virus and strengthen body’s natural healing capacity
- Support specific areas of weakness such as liver, thyroid and adrenals
All this is done through diet, supplementation and herbs. He says it can take anything from 3 – 18 months to completely conquer the EBV virus and any chronic disease.
1.Diet
Anthony doesn’t set out a fixed diet because everyone has different needs. He recommends that certain substances are removed from the diet
Remove:
- Dairy
- Gluten
- Fried and processed foods
- Pork
- Corn/Maize
- MSG
- Farmed fish
- Soya
- Eggs.
He is a big proponent of eating high quantities of fruit and veg and says that the health industry is wrong for suggesting that fruit sugar is bad for us.
He suggests that people will see fast results if they take part in a 28 day raw fruit and veg diet as an initial cleanse,. I don’t quite feel ready for that but will try to do it at least once a week, which he says is still beneficial.
In my case I’m eating about 70% raw and incorporating a bit of quinoa, buckwheat, legumes, nuts and seeds. Most days I follow it but I try not to be fanatical about it if I’m out with others for dinner or want something warm. Anthony suggests having steamed veg for dinner, including potatoes, if you need something warming.
My life is filled with juices, smoothies and salads! A pint of celery juice at the beginning of the day is an important part of the protocol. He also encourages lots of berries, asparagus, sprouts, spinach, lettuce, papaya, apricots, pomegranates, kale, sweet potato, cucumbers and fennel, which he says are powerful against EBV.
If you’re following the Medical Medium approach or would like more inspiration on how to create delicious raw food meals, follow my Raw Food board and other detox recipe pages on Pinterest here.
2. Supplements
The book lists the most important supplements for different health issues. Below are the pills and tablets I’m taking.
I’ve put together a list of supplements available in the UK which meet the requirements of the protocol and are free from unwanted ingredients such as Citric Acid, flavors and animal products. The list is on a separate page so I can keep it up to date. These are the supplements he highlights as being particularly important, which I’m taking.
- Colloidal Silver
- Zinc
- Vitamin D3
- Magnesium
- Natures Own, Manganese, Selenium, Chromium, Kelp, L-tyrosene
- Red Marine Algae
- Ester C
- Flax Seed oil
- Monolaurin
- B- Complex
- L-glutamine
- Priobiotics
- Vitamin B12
- Folic Acid
- L-Lysine
3. Herbs
These herbs are very important for the detoxification process. Dulse is one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever tasted, but fry it in coconut oil and it tastes of bacon! Bizarre! I make a pesto out of the herbs and then eat it with spiralised vegetable pastas. The rest all goes in a smoothie.
- Sage
- Coriander/Cilantro
- Parsley
- Ashwaganda
- Atlantic Dulse
- Hawaiian Spirulina
- Barley Grass extract powder
Herbs
There are a variety of herbs recommended in the book depending on what your condition is. Somecan be taken in teas and others in a non-alcohol based extract. Anthony says in his book that using herbs with alcohol destroys the properties so its important to get ones extracted with glycerin instead. There is a list of where to get them here.
Here are some of the herbs I focus on taking
- Cats Claw
- Bladderwrack
- Lemon Balm
- Plantain Leaf
- Licorice Root
- Nettle leaf
- Red Clover
- Star Anise
- Rosehips
- Schisandra
It’s quite a job to get all this into me every day but somehow I am managing and I must say that whilst it takes some effort, I do feel pretty damn good. I feel positive, energetic and balanced. My tinnitus has not been excruciatingly loud since I started except on one occasion and that lasted less than 30 mins. My hearing in my right ear seems to have raised back to pre-October levels….So WATCH THIS SPACE and I will let you know what happens next. I hope to be reporting back soon with MIRACULOUS IMPROVEMENT!
If you’re following the Medical Medium approach I’d love to hear from you. How do you manage to take all these items each day? What changes have you noticed? Any other tips and advice you’ve picked up?
I highly recommend the book to anyone with any chronic health condition. You can download the first chapter of his book for free at his website here or buy it through Amazon – Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal

I’ve been enjoying following your posts. The EBV connection sounds very interesting and may be worth my looking into. I do hesitate to trust anyone who would call himself a psychic or a medium, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be on to something with the EBV. I do agree that the body would never attack itself for no reason. I hope this program works for you and will look forward to hearing your progress.
Are you back to driving yet? Last post mentioned you may be getting closer. I know that is a very important landmark for you, so I do hope you can reach it!

Hi Candice. This is the most interesting thing I have EVER read.
I am so thrilled that you are feeling so good. Think of you every day. Thank you so much for sharing your hard work.
As you know, I have been trying to cut out salicylates to make my tinnitus more bearable but it’s not easy living on potato, celery and lettuce every day, so as from today I am going to follow your diet and see what happens. XX

Hey fiona, thank you! I highly recommend reading the book. I would imagine that he would say that once you tackle the cause the allergies and intolerances will clear. He seems to think of celery as some kind of miracle food so eat lots! He also says potatoes are high in lysine an anti vital and that they are very good for us but just not when fried or eaten with dairy so you can find new interesting ways to eat them 🙂 x

Hej Candice!
I have read the book as well, and I was wondering – do you take all of the supplements each day? Is that safe? And also – do you really eat all of the herbs everyday?
Thanks so much, I am currently on my 18th day of the cleanse and see small improvement. I only take cvitamin and the spirulina supplement though.
Hope you can help me!

Well done you for doing the full cleanse. I am hoping I can do it in spring when the weather warms up. It’s ok to take the supplements and herbs together. Just to be sure of what to take I use kinesiology to test dosages. The herbs I take as a tincture (no alcohol) but I try to eat lots of coriander every day (heavy metal detox). Do you have ebb/hearing loss? B12 and zinc are also important
Josephine
January 26, 2017 @ 3:06 pm
Thank you!
And ahh okay! I am not really experienced in kinesiology so I am unsure about the dosages, since he doesnt say so in the book. How much L-Lysin and Tomentosa did you take per day?
And no, I mostly have a light fever, tiredness and dizziness.
Candice
January 26, 2017 @ 9:43 pm
This is only guidance as I understand it – I’m not qualified to prescribe…but if you have active viral infection you want to be taking minimum 1000-2000mg Lysene a day. When my virus felt very active (e.g. my hearing was fluctuating) I was taking 6000mg but to save money and reduce the amount of pills I swallow in a day I have come down to about 2000mg.
I dont know anything about Tomentosa sorry. What are you taking this for? is it in MM book?
Josephine
January 29, 2017 @ 10:43 am
Ah I see. I wanna try Lysene, but I am also taking c-vitamins, Spirulina and these mushroom pills, and my naturopath said it is dangerous to mix all these pills as naturemedicin can be dangerous if mixing. So I am a bit afraid.
Tomentosa is also in the book under supplements at the EBV section. Its an herb.
Candice
January 29, 2017 @ 4:49 pm
In all my training we have never been taught that. In nature vitamins and minerals are mixed together. But if she has scared you now you need to go as gently and as safely as feels comfortable. MM has never mentioned any reason to be concerned about taking multiple supplements. I have however seen him tell people that they didn’t take enough..for example one guy had been taking 2 droppers of zinc for 2 years and when MM saw him he said he was zinc deficient as he had been taking the wrong version (eidon non concentrated – which you need 25 droppers of!).
How did you find your naturopath and where did she train (if you know)?
I’ll look up Tormentosa
Josephine
January 29, 2017 @ 5:12 pm
Well, he has studied for 5 years at university in USA so hes a naturopath. But yeah he also doesnt believe in MM. And I might be a bit skeptic too. Even though I fully believe in the diet, and I think he puts some good supplements up. But I think a lot of naturopath could tell you the same as he does. But yeah, he says that mixing can be dangerous, and hes had patients that has gotten sick, even died from MMs guidelines. He really scared me as you can see!
Anyway, I really wanna do Lysene, so I might just stop with the others and try Lysene for awhile!
Candice
January 29, 2017 @ 5:50 pm
Its probably best that you discuss with him your interest in taking lysine and see what he says about it. I don’t know of any negative interaction between C and Lysine but if he is concerned about it he should be able to explain why. Do let me know what he says. Perhaps its a qwuestion you could ask by email rather than pay for a whole session…I know how expensive these things can get!

Hello Candice, Here I am at last. You have done a beautiful and amazing job in this blog, sorry its taken for this computerphob to visit.
Well, as you know and for the benefit for those reading, today Epstien Barr Virus was identified from a pool of about 100 viruses using blind kinesiology test as being a key cause of my (supposed) rheumatoid arthritis. My symptoms and progression over the last 10-15 years match the how the disease is described in the book and the fact that it also came up in the test today is more than enough confirmation for me that I need to follow the protocol.
Of course, there are so many supplements that are recommended and I think that kinesology could not only identify for sure it is is EBV that is affecting you but also allow you to narrow down the list of supplements and test of specific ones that are most effective for you as well as assisting lymphatic and meridian release.
Happy healing breakthroughs to me, you and all!

Hi , so how are you doing compared to the Paleo diet? My friend is trying to tell me that is what I need but I feel like the Medical Medium makes more sense.
Candice Luper
May 3, 2016 @ 7:40 pm
Absolutely, 100%, I would recommend you to go with Medical Medium. The Paleo diet is half way there in that you want to get gluten and grains out as much as possible, but it misses all the other things than need to be eliminated from the diet such as ALL animal products, corn (which you could still be eating on a gluten free diet), soya, etc etc. I’m sorry I haven’t written for a while, I have so much to share I don’t know where to begin! 🙂

hi, Are you religious about the diet or have you relaxed a bit.
I was diagnosed with lyme but I am sure i have EBV.
My symptoms are on a cycle.. feel good for awhile , feel bad.

Candice Luper
May 3, 2016 @ 8:14 pm
Lydia, well relative to most people, I am religious about it but I do slip up..in minor ways e.g. maybe I have a gluten free cake, which is actually made with corn flour, or I go out and have a vegetarian curry made with poor quality oils…so its not like I go out on the razz and get drunk or something, but still, my practitioner yesterday said that in order to fight this (and I have a particularly aggressive strain of EBV) I am going to have to get religious. Please read Anthony’s book as he said Lyme is not the problem. There are a lot of health fads out there and my feeling is to follow Anthony only. I will try to write soon to give an update x

Love reading about peoples experience with medical mediums detox diet. This is my 5th day on the 28 day detox. Its been bad, I just cannot do raw all day long, so I’ve been incorporating potatoes with just salt and herb and squash. Im also doing the celery juice and all the other supplements he recommends for detoxing. I’ve been bloated for a long time but it’s been worse on this diet.
I did the EBV protocol about a 8 months ago for about 2 months. I had been experiencing ringing in the ear, numbness and other related symptoms. But my main concern is skin allergies and digestive problems so I didnt see much improvemente with the EBV protocol on that part.
As of now Im focusig on detoxing and supporting my digestive system.
How long did it take for you to see improvement?

I have just finished Thyroid Healing by Anthony William and I’ve been following the cleanse for about a week now. Today was the first day I didn’t have to go back to bed after putting the kids on the bus, and today was also the first day my glands in the left side of my neck weren’t swollen. I’m pretty happy about having any improvement. I’m still waiting for the day I wake up with tons of energy. I haven’t felt like that in months.
How do you all feel after a week or two into the process? Does anyone have a good healing story?
Thanks,
Laura

That’s wonderful news Laura. What a great book it is! I’ve been on the protocol for about 2 years however I have only done the full cleanse for a few weeks at a time. I would like to do the cleanse he outlines in thyroid healing soon as my neck is still large from the thyroid nodules after all this time. I’d love to hear everyone’s positive stories.

I have been on Anthony William’s (author of “Medical Medium”) heavy metal detox program for 16 months now and have experienced only positive results. I drink a smoothie every single day and I use the following:
Organic cilantro
Barley Grass Juice Powder (2 teaspoons)
Atlantic Dulse (2 strips)
Hawaiian Spirulina (2 teaspoons)
1 cup wild blueberries from Maine (available in the frozen food section of the grocery store here in U.S.)
1 banana
1 organic apple
I also eat lots of green salads, vegetables and baked potatoes with coconut oil (rather than butter).
Supplements I use:
Liposomal Vitamin C
Vitamin B12
B Complex
Neuro-Mag (Magnesium L-Threonate)
Ionic Zinc
Ashwagandha (for adrenals)
I have cut out dairy, eggs, gluten.
I recently had a blood test after 1 year on this protocol and my blood glucose level decreased from high normal (96) to a very healthy 82.
I am sleeping better and my hair, which was thinning, has been growing thicker. Mr. William says that hair loss is an adrenal gland issue.
My naturopath is supportive of the protocol and agrees with his recommendation for ashwagandha and she said he is right about the efficacy of fresh fruit…very high in antioxidants.
For those who are skeptical about Mr. William’s psychic ability…he is an extraordinary case, his gifts have been in evidence since he was 4 years old. I would recommend reading his account of what he experienced as a child and how his gift has manifested throughout his lifetime.

I have been following AW diet for about 9 months. My chronic fatigue was over in 2 1/2 months but recently I developed herpes outbreak and nerve problems in my left leg. It might be shingles. I am not very creative with the diet. Celery juice with 1/4 apple every morning. Fruit smoothie 16 to 32 ounces, bberry pineapple, strawberry, in coconut milk spiralina. Salads, cooked food at night. I don’t feel that confident anymore. I lack variety. Now with the herpes and nerve pain I feel deflated. It is hard to know if that is discharge or a reaction. I’ve ordered the stuff for the detox smoothie. Can’t go all raw doesn’t feel good. How do you keep your faith? How do you know it is the virus leaving and not causing the problems.
I’ve read all his books and believe in him but then I also believed in the paleo diet and now I think it was way off.

I totally understand your frustration. It sounds like you’re being really diligent. It could be that you are missing something in your protocol. For instance it seems you may not have been doing the heavy metal detox? It could be that you simply haven’t followed the protocol for long enough. It takes a while to make an impact on these viruses and it seems that any number of factors can cause them to flare up…diet, environmental, emotional etc. Perhaps you could find a practitioner to work with who understands the protocol? I could help but I am off course based in the UK which may be far from you. You could sign up for a phone consult with one of Anthony’s recommended practitioners. Just ideas. I think we are all somewhat feeling our way through this difficult process. I wish you all the best

Hi Candice, really interesting post! I have just read the first Medical Medium book after more than a year on a more ‘paleo’ diet. Similar to you, i’ve had recurring ear problems and tinnitus, plus worsening allergies and digestive issues.
Unfortunately many of my allergies are to raw fruit and vegetables (i get an itchy/swollen mouth). Have you read any advice from AW at all on this…catch 22 as obviously difficult to follow his avice without eating raw foods….
Candice
August 12, 2018 @ 12:41 am
Hi Steph, Sorry to hear that you are having multiple health symptoms. I beleive his view point is that oftem reactions to fruit and veg occur because of the strong detox reactions they create. But you don’t have to have all raw food on his protocols. You could still gently heat and steam, even fruit. Would that make it possible for you? If I come accross more information on that I will let you know.

Where does he recommend flaxseed oil? Perhaps you’ve confused it with plant-based EPA & DHA? In the Medical Medium first book, flaxseed oil is not in the index. I’ve been following Medical Medium for over two years and I’m nearly healed. Also, he recommends Silver hydrosol, not colloidal silver. HERE’S WISHING YOU Godspeed on your MM healing path.

April 12, 2019 @ 4:39 pm
Hi to all. Like many I have followed dubious incorrect health information in the past (alcohol is good for me, high fat/no grains like paleo, I was definitely scared off fruit with border-line Type II diabetes.) I have a daughter who caught mono in sixth grade and now as a sophomore it keeps causing brain fog and extreme fatigue at times. That’s how I ended up reading the medical medium books. People question – is this finally the right advice? Here is why I believe it is.
Him being a medium is not an issue for me at all. But for those of you who find that problematic, I’d suggest that you read the books and you will see a large amount of human biology explained. I have researched much of the information he provides and have not found one incorrect thing. For example, he explains in one of the books that the current genetic test for the supposed methylation mutation is simply a test for indicators of inflammation. I thought – no way. The medical community would not do that. He was right. There are many more examples.
The biggest aha for me was that fat, not fruit sugar, causes diabetes. I have had a very high fat diet all my life. Tons of pork. I started eating fruit and making sure I did not combine sugar with fat, and I immediately lost all my belly fat as well as my craving for nearly a bottle of wine per night. It’s been nothing short of amazing. My blood sugar levels are returning to normal.
So my results have been good there. But also, its logical if you simply observe how nature packages nutrition for us. Fats and sugars don’t exist in nature together except very rarely – avacados (but not nearly as sweet as ice cream), and dairy (designed for mammal infants who can’t yet chew). Maybe cashews, can’t remember. But by and large, fruits contain all the sugar but no fats. Meats and nuts contain the fat but no sugar. i think its obvious we’re not supposed to eat them together.
Then Anthony explains why – the sugar your brain and liver crave can’t get where it needs to go with blood full of fat. The live has to work hard to mop up all this fat. So now, I only eat my fat at night with my meat meals, while all day the fuits and veggies and potatoes I eat are mostly no fat.
I was completely stunned at how the liver must handle fats. And how fats prevent absorption of helpful sugars etc (leaving them just circulating around in the blood until the liver cleans it all up).
So the big take away for me: don’t combine fats with sugar. Only eat fruit and raw honey (wildflower preferred probably because its the most like a wild food) for sugar when possible. I still eat meat, but save it for the evening after I’ve spent the day eating tons of fruits, veggies, and non greasy potatoes. I juice a lot of things. in the morning I do the lemon juice, and drink lots of juices after that to help my liver out. sometimes i make celery juice but haven’t gotten a great juicer yet so I just clean a bunch of it and munch on it for about an hour before I eat anything else. Then apples. the liposomal vit C really makes us all feel good at our house. Still trying to kick coffee (another healthy beverage like wine misinformation), which I now realize just ages me.
Its logical – any stimulant that produces an adrenal response is going to age us. You don’t have to think so much about the fact that “Anthony is a medium.” Instead, put that aside and use your logical brain – his information makes sense and he isn’t in any industry or producing a product he is trying to push. unless you think he is getting rich from celery and blueberry sales and that is his motivation.
If we all did lemon juice, celery, wild blueberries, cut down on fats, I think he’d be happy.
Anyway, you have to remember that there are a lot of dieticians and doctors (sorry bout spelling, typing fast) who spend a lot of years and money learning things that he disagrees with. He will be attacked a lot. The entire medical community has financial and commerce reasons to attack him.
Just ask yourself – is it logical? People die under medical care all the time. Because a doctor can point to someone who dies after trying some Anthony stuff, is that a reason to run from advice to eat fruits, vegetables, cut down on meat, cut down on engineered grains, etc? It is undisputed that the western diet creates disease wherever it is introduced. Chemicals and toxins are bad for us. Is this all so hard to believe? I feel bad for people who went to school for years and learned the wrong things. but its no reason to turn from what is best for us all – just eat natural food. the way it comes. don’t eat meat from animals that have been tortured and poisened. Understand that the ocean is very poisoned, which is why seafood has become dangerous to eat. It’s just the way it is right now in the world. there’s nothing weird or hard to understand about this common sense knowledge.
I hope this helps and apologize for rambling and lengthy post. If supplements scare you then don’t use them. Just start eating healthy. It might take longer but then you won’t worry.
Good luck, love, and better help to all.
