My Crazy Unexplained Hearing Loss Fluctuations
Here are all the audiograms I have. A line in each horizontal area of the audiogram corresponds to the following categories of hearing loss. Apparently it is very unusual to have this type of extreme hearing fluctuations. I’d love to hear from anyone else who has anything remotely similar to this.
How to accommodate and support someone with hearing loss
I’m regularly complimented on how well I’ve coped with the changes and how “amazing” I am to have adapted so well. It’s great to hear this positive feedback and I gladly accept any compliments coming my way! It has been tough and I know I have done well. It’s nice that my achievements are ‘seen’. […]
Tinnitus Poem
My ears hiss and hum, they fizz and they freak, like a song with no melody week after week You hear sound, and I hear distortion. This ever present noise, is driving me to exhaustion I may never hear quiet, or stillness again. I wonder how long, till it drives me insane A chord played […]
Epstein Barr Virus and Hearing Loss, Menieres, Balance Disorders and Tinnitus
Happy New Year my lovelies! Wishing you all healing progress in 2018. Today I want to talk about Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) again. I know I’ve posted about it before but It’s coming up so frequently in my natural health practice and because there is a general lack of awareness about it, especially among those with hearing […]
Justin (46) Oscillopsia, Vestibular Neuritis, 2017
Hello to my bilateral oscillopsia friends! What started 6 months ago as a fever, turned to a cold, to a sinus infection, to an ear infection, to some hearing loss (1 ear only), and left me with permanent inner ear nerve damage and the HELL we all live in called “Oscillopsia”. Also, I have no […]
Steroids for hearing loss
Thank you for all your support. I really appreciate the messages of support. I’d like to update you that after 10 days of high dose oral steroids (Methylpredisolone) my hearing in my right ear returned. As you must have gathered from my last post, losing more hearing was SERIOUSLY STRESSFUL and really hit my world. […]
Advice for those experiencing SUDDEN HEARING LOSS and/or PERMANENT VERTIGO
Last week I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful, bright and brave woman who sadly, is going through what I went through. Her ears, eyes and balance are in crisis. Her experience takes me back to that desperate, time-critical search for information that all the normal channels such as GP’s and hospitals often fail […]
Downward decibel slope
There is a terror that freezes you stone cold when you realize that your world and how you predominantly interact with it, could be taken away from you. And there is nothing you can do but watch it happen. It’s like watching a car crash in slow motion. Except in my case it looks like […]
Two years later
Today is my Remembrance Day. It’s been two years exactly. Every second of it is etched in the landscape of my memory, because it changed my life irrevocably. I remember that curious feeling of stepping into the world and realising that it’s not the same place anymore nor I the same person. I remember feeling […]
Medical Medium protocol for hearing loss – 1 year update
I’ve now been following the ‘Medical Medium’ protocol for about a year (previous posts here and here) so here’s a little update on how it is going. I must admit I’ve been getting a little lazy these last few months. I’ve been indulging more often in meals out, more meat, less raw food and not doing […]
UK Supplements for Medical Medium Protocol
If you are following the Medical Medium (Anthony William) protocol in the UK or EU to overcome chronic illnesses, you’ve probably spent many hours online trying to find the right products at a price that doesn’t blow your adrenals. Some of the brands Anthony recommends such as Pure Encapsulations, Eidon and Gaia Herbs, are just […]
Month 18 – Life as a deafened human
I’ve tried to keep all my posts mildly upbeat, considering the circumstance. I don’t want to leave a trail of misery in my midst nor give those of you out there in my position any reason to lose hope. But I realise that in doing so I’m also putting a big smile on a tragic […]
How not to be a dick to deaf people by Bea Webster
I absolutely love this post by Bea Webster and had to reblog it (…but didn’t know how so just copied and pasted it!). Her blog is here. PART 1 I thought I would put up my own sort of a very brief mini deaf awareness blog that may contain non-PG words (actually, it does). They are […]
Juicing, blending and chopping with Medical Medium – 4 month update
I’ve been following the Medical Medium Protocol for around 4 months now (first post is here). Seeing as I think, breathe and live this protocol I thought I’d give you a little update, share my passion, and for any other devotees out there, share my tips for how to do normal life whilst on a significantly limited […]
Plan B: Medical Medium Healing Protocol
Its been a while since I posted about my self-healing techniques and I wanted to update you on my new approach which I’m enthusiastically following. It’s important because when I am fully healed and have marveled the medical establishment with my miraculous healing, you’ll need to know how I did it! 😉 Progress on the […]
Month 10 – more hearing loss, steroid injections & the grief
Lots has happened. After my last post I had to concentrate on various practicalities. Having been off work for 6+ months my pay dropped to half and I was concerned with how to make ends meet. It takes quite some time and effort to navigate the benefit system and work out what you’re entitled to. […]
I’m not dizzy I’m jiggy-blurry! Oscillopsia explained
This website name is all wrong! I’m not dizzy and I will probably never feel that sensation of dizzy again. Dizzy is not the problem anymore. I have lost my balance so walk a bit drunk like because sometimes just keeping myself upright on wonky ground is a problem, but its not dizziness…what it IS, is […]
How to care for your loved ones when they are sick or have a chronic health condition
I’m surprised to be writing this blog. It seems to me that it would be a fundamental part of being human and loving others, that we would support those we care about whilst they are sick. But it seems there is a lot of truth to the saying Laugh and the whole world laughs with […]
Wk 22 – Finally a diagnosis – Autoimmune Ear Disease
I cant believe its been 5 months since I became ill. Time is passing so fast and all I’m doing is going to appointments back and forth trying to get my life back on track. There is so much I want to write about but I just haven’t had the time unfortunately as I’ve had […]
The sound of music upon my injured ears
So I’m sitting here at home on another summers evening. Keeping busy as usual. Not thinking of what I might have been doing had my life not fallen to pieces from this stroke of difficulty that fell upon me. Not thinking about Glastonbury or all the festivals that I might have danced at had my […]
Share your experience with labyrinthitus, hearing loss or vestibular issues…
I’d like to open up a space on this blog for other people to share their experience with vestibular issues, labyrinthitus and hearing loss. It can be so isolating as the people around us don’t understand what we are seeing, feeling and hearing. Personally I so appreciate connecting with others who have had similar experiences and […]
Week 18 – On a quest for support, equipment and balance
Last week I had my final intratympanic steroid injection. I’m glad that’s over as neither me nor my family enjoyed travelling an hour to hospital to sit there and wait for 5-6 hours each time. It was exhausting and it’s not exactly a comfortable thing to have a needle pushed all the way through your […]
Helichrysum Essential Oil for hearing loss, tinnitus and ear healing
Helichrysum oil, also known as ‘Everlasting’ and ‘Immortal’ essential oil, is made from the European flower species H.Angustifolium and H. Italicum. The oil is well known for its restorative properties to the skin, liver and nervous system but I discovered that it is also known for its ability to help ear health problems such as hearing loss […]
Detoxing with the Auto-Immune Paleo (AID) Diet
Since I studied naturopathic nutrition, I will always understand diet as being fundamental to our health and healing potential. The first principle in Naturopathy and natural health are to 1. Remove anything from the diet which could be challenging to the body If our body is putting all its energy into processing all the food […]
A Naturopathic Approach to Healing
I really want to share more info with you about the natural healing methods I’m applying to detoxify, strengthen and heal my body. I’ve studied various natural therapies and naturopathic nutrition and this period of illness is giving me a chance to put everything into full application. I’m using naturopathic practices, diet and nutrition, supplementation, […]
